Questions & Answers

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions composed of single strands of synthetic eyelashes they are weightless and curved to look exactly like a natural eyelash. The lashes are applied directly to the individual’s natural eyelashes, one by one. The lash extensions come in various colors, lengths, thicknesses, and curvatures.

How long are sessions?

Depending on the number of lashes applied and the skill of the lash stylist, a full set (which is approximately 60-80 lashes per eye) will take between 90 to 150 minutes to complete. Re-lashes, two to four weeks after, will take between 30 to 60 minutes.

At home preparations

Prior to your session preparation is advised for the client.

Please do not curl your lashes or wear any mascara.

Remove contact lenses and thoroughly clean your lashes with a mild, water based cleanser.

Eyelids and lashes must be completely clean and dry.

Can mascara still be used?

One of the main advantages of Eyelash extensions is you will no longer have a need for mascara. However, if you would like to wear mascara you may do so. Please be advised to never use water-proof or oil based mascara.

How long will the extensions last?

Once the lashes are properly applied and well maintained, eyelash extensions can last indefinitely. Please know that as your natural lashes shed, thus the extensions that are attached will also shed, and new lashes will begin to grow. With re-lashes, new extensions are added to the newest lashes to replace the lashes that have shed to maintain a full, natural look.

Consultation with a lash stylist

Prior to the application, your stylist will conduct a thorough consultation allowing you the opportunity to help design your customized lash look. In addition, your stylist may ask questions about your health and lifestyle to ensure which style of eyelash extensions are right for you.

Will the application be uncomfortable?

During your eyelash extension application, you will comfortably recline with your eyes closed. The application of eyelash extensions are painless and relaxing. Clients typically fall asleep then awaken to longer, thicker, darker and more voluminous lashes.

How is the application done?

During the application of eyelash extensions, your stylist will isolate an individual natural lash, then; he/she will expertly bond one eyelash extension to one natural lash. This technique creates a seamless look and feel as if these eyelash extensions were your own.

Are eyelash extensions safe?

To ensure your safety during and after the procedure, eyelash extensions are never applied to your skin; eyelash extensions are attached only to your natural lashes.

What are Volumizing Lashes?

Volume, like cluster lashes, are multiple eyelashes attached to one eyelash. However, volume lashes are much safer than cluster lashes as they are applied to individual and isolated eyelashes. There are usually 2-6 false eyelashes placed on every natural lash for volume sets, depending on the desired look. These lashes are very light, and don’t weigh down or damage the natural lash.

Volume lashes give a much fuller and cleaner look than cluster eyelashes. Just look at the stark difference between this photo and the outgrown clusters above!

Does Volumizing Affect the bond?

Volume lashes also have longer bond times than cluster lashing because each volume lash creates multiple pockets of adhesive that form beam like shapes along the lashes. Also, volume lashes provide a much higher surface bonding area. There are multiple surfaces surrounding the natural lash and extensions with adhesive.

What you should know about Volumizing before receiving a fullset

Beware of premade volume fans that are glued together before application. Even if they are hand-made they will be dipped in glue twice – once on the fan and once to attach. This can create a bulky and unhealthy look. Also, premade fans don’t wrap around your lashes like regular volume lashes do because they have already been glued together. When you make the fans on command they wrap around the natural lash when you apply them. Attaching a premade fan keeps the extensions sitting on top of the lash, and it doesn’t wrap around the lash to give a natural look.
